Kind of a crappy day here in Breck so after doing some work this morning I headed down to the local Rec Centre for a swim. I have been a little slack lately and I definitely felt it. I’m sure some of it is the altitude (swimming at 9,000 feet) but I just couldn’t get any rhythm today. I’d swim 5 or 6 lengths (I think it is a 33 yard pool) and then have to stop to get my breath.
I suppose if I can keep it up though I’ll be swimming like a fish down at sea level.
As a side note, I was the only person I saw in a speedo. There were only two other people swimming. I find it funny though that guys in the lockerroom are happy to walk around naked but will put on dork shorts to go for a swim.
Back in summer someone told me about a Swimming Watch that counts laps – I’m pretty sure it was over on the SwimmerSexuality.com forum.
One of the things that does annoy me is counting laps when I’m swimming – I keep loosing count. I’ve been enjoying my running recently because I don’t have to think about it and can let my mind wander on different things. So often when I’m lap swimming I’m too busy trying to concentrate on how far I’ve swam.
Anyways – after some discussion on the SwimmerSexuality.com forum, I did some more of my own research and I bought the ‘Swimmate’. I’ve been using for the last couple of months and been meaning to tell you guys about it – it is awesome!!!! I don’t know how it works but you punch in how long the pool is, hit start and then when you are done, it tells you how many laps and how far you’ve gone.
I’m sure there is other stuff on it but that is all I wanted it for.
I don’t make any money from this plug and I bought the watch myself (it was like US$80 I think) but I thought I’d share this with you guys. Just Google ‘swimmate’ – it looks like this.
My guests are still in town here and as such I just haven’t had any routine. Today however I sent them off snowboarding with a friend of mine and I’ve been catching up on a bunch of work and I even went for a swim.
I haven’t been for a swim in well over a week and it was great to be back in speedos. I’ve been to the pool and had a hottub with my guests but not a proper lap swim where I get to wear speedos. The feeling of freedom of diving in the pool wearing nothing but a pair of lycra speedos is so wonderful.
Even after not swimming for a week I felt like I have lost a bit of fitness (not that I feel as though I have much fitness these days). Well, this weekend is going to be a big one with the rugby on Saturday night and I’m going to take the crew out on the town for a big one. They are outta here on Sunday and I think I’m even going to write down a routine for myself.
Then I’m going to feel as good as these guys look…….
