A fresh start
One of the things I have enjoyed about my recent nomadic existence has been that every 6 months or so I got to start fresh. I’d normally sit down and think about the stuff I wanted to change, the bad habits I want to break and the opportunities I want to have a crack at.
I’m not sure about you guys but once I get into a bad routine I find it hard to break – be it sleeping in, drinking/partying too much, not eating right, not exercicing enuf or not working hard enuf.
This move to the beach is a little different for me as I think I might be here for a long period of time and I want to get myself into a good routine.
Here are a few things that I have done during my first couple of days which I want to continue….
- Get up early – no sleeping in until midday.
- Eat less – I reckon I can loose 10kgs before Xmas easy.
- Party and drink a little less.
- Long list of work projects which I want to get stuck into.
I think those 4 things are all tied into each other. The last couple of days I’ve been getting up early and walking along the beach to the local bakery and having a proper breakfast, then I’m not hungry during the day, I’m getting a stack of work done before midday and after a few drinks after dinner I’m ready for bed. Seems like a self perpetuating cycle. If I can keep it up I’ll be much more productive and seductive in my speedos.
Speaking of new starts – do you guys like the new header image? Here is another pic of that guy.
Today I woke up to the sound of the waves breaking on the beach.
Unfortunately, it is overcast an raining. It is pretty cold too so I don’t think I’ll go for a swim this morning.
Yesterday everything went pretty smoothly, a friend picked me up from the airport, I picked up a friends car on the way home from the airport, my pad is sweet, my roomies are awesome fun (I know one of my roomies but didn’t know the other one), a bunch of people came around for a BBQ welcoming dinner, we went out to the pub and now we are trying to reconstruct what happened last night.
I’m off to do some running about – hopefully tomorrow will be a beach day.
No game
Well last night was a good night catching up with some friends and out on the town I ran into two more friends that I didn’t even know were still in town.
However, I had absolutely no game with the ladies.
I wasn’t drunk enough to get my groove on the dance floor – actually I felt sober as a judge and just gave up well before midnight and after Subway drove home.
Perhaps I have been drinking a little too much since I got back here and the low altitude has me immune to alcohol. So I’ve decided that other than the occasional social beer I’m not going to drink this week (I’m a spirits drinker – I just can’t drink beer fast enough to get hammered on it).
So today I got up early, went for a swim and now I’m watching the NHL Playoffs. The weather is pretty nasty outside but I might go for a walk through my new neighbourhood.
Tonight I’m having a couple I met in Canada over for dinner – no hanky panky there but really nice people and I’m cooking up a rack of lamb – my first attempt at this – should be interesting.
I’ve been posting a few scenery photos lately so I think we should get back to the speedos – here are three pairs of speedos that I have worn in the last 2 days….
