When I started high school, which was an all boys school on the Gold Coast, during PE if we were swimming speedos were compulsory. Each there was a swimming carnival and every one who got in the pool wore a speedo, no jammers or dork shorts.
By the time of my final year I remember that guys were starting to wear jammers or the ‘speedo only’ policy wasn’t being implemented and guys were wearing dork shorts. I can only imagine that since then it has gotten worse with more jammers and dork shorts.
However, I was reading today a comment that someone said they were talking to a Speedo rep and schools were buying more speedos than jammers this year. I’m assuming they are talking about US but that is great news.
Speedos aren’t seen too often here on the beach although they are seen at the pool.
My str8 mates own speedos and wear them under their footy shorts when playing touch and wear them under their wetsuits and boardies when out in the surf.
On the beach here I haven’t seen many younger guys wear speedos or square cuts but I wonder if square cuts became more popular, they could be used as a stepping stone for guys to wear speedos more often in public.
Alex told me that the first couple of times he went to the pool for lap swimming that he wore jammers. Once he felt comfortable and saw other guys in speedos he was brave enough to speedo it up?
What do you guys think?
I can’t believe how hot these three guys are!!!
Yesterday I was up early and went to the pool a little after 7am. The traffic was a lot busier with people going to work (going to the train station on their way to work) and then on the way home I got caught in school traffic. It was colder getting into the pool which made it a little tougher as well.
Not to be a Moaning Minnie though, it was a different crowd compared to when I swim during the day. Lots more younger guys swimming, still a majority of guys wearing speedos but a few jammers as well. Don’t worry, yours truly was wearing a pair of black ADIDAS 3-stripe speedos.
I don’t know if I’ll make it to the pool early every day but it was a nice change of scenery.
