The last two days I’ve had some fantastic sessions in the pool. I’ve been swimming pretty much every week day since I moved back but I was feeling sluggish in the water until yesterday.
I have been wearing my AussieBums in the pool of course.
One thing that I have always had trouble with was keeping a track of how far I had swum. I like my mind to wander and I seem to swim much better and more relaxed when I’m not caring how far I swim. I’d love to hear of any ideas of how to keep a track of how many laps.
Now if there were more speedo guys like this at the local pool I’d have absolutely no chance on concentrating on anything other than their speedos……

Dave I break down my Swims into 50’s or 100’s if I lose count I do that portion over. Keeps my mind from wandering too much.

I would love to be in that type of a speedo friendly environment. I know my mind would wander a bit for sure.

I also break my swimming, for example one 1000mts, and two 700’s, or 3 800´s or something like that. If while swimming I lose track of which lap it was, then I do that lap again, and start from the last lap I remember doing. I try to concentrate on my swimming.

Two ideas. A small abacus type device or several large pebbles. Every time you get to your starting wall, you slide a chip on the abacus or move a pebble. I would usually swim till I was tired, so I only counted occassionally to see what I was up to that week or that month.
