    Incidentally, God also hates Speedos.

(Jerry Falwell–a total schmuck while he was alive, though still better than Phelps–did not allow Speedos at Liberty University, the university he founded, because it would entice people into homosexuality. I bet he would have been a big fan of your blog!)

I’m very happy to belong to a religion that not only has fags in it, but also Speedos, and fags in Speedos. Because how hot is that?

    Dr. Phil,

Perhaps we should have a ‘sarcastic’ list of Speedo Friends on here. The homophobes seem to have a voice – perhaps we should too.

    What do you think?

agreed dave. people can have different views, but these people who shove their beliefs down everyone else’s throat are ridiculous.

also, your blog and (after you pointed him out) the gayest straight guy are the only two blogs i read – but his blog is gone. do you, or anyone else in the blogoshpere, know what happened to him?? hope it wasn’t that his wife or colleagues found it :s

Why not, Dave? I’d sign up! 😉

You know, there have been various different approaches in the last few years (and even when Westboro first hit the news big-time after Matthew Shepard’s death in late ’98) of people doing different things to mess with and put off the Phelps picketers.

It would be hysterical to have a bunch of people–particularly older, bearish, hairy, large men–go and do a “Speedo-in” to disrupt them…!?!

Anon – I’m not sure what happened to his blog mate. In the last couple of days I went through my blogroll and checked all the links but now his blog isn’t there. He had a blogspot blog and sometimes they get shut down for their adult content…. lets hope so – he wrote a fantastic, honest blog.

It’s not fair or accurate to say that Fred Phelps likes Al Gore or that he is a Democrat. It’s true that Phelps supported Gore during his 1988 campaign, because back then Gore had unenlightened views of gays and homosexuality. But Gore realized this was wrong, and Phelps opposed Gore and Clinton four years later, in 1992, because both had become strong supporters of equal rights for gays and lesbians. You may recall how much opposition Clinton ran into for appointing the first openly gay U.S. ambassador (Armand Hammer), for appointing open gays and lesbians in his administration, and of course for trying to erase the ban on gays and lesbians serving in the armed forces (which of course led to the infamous don’t ask don’t tell policy).

    Randy,

You are correct mate – that last comment was just a cheap shot. I would never seriously accuse the views of Fred Phelps to be inline with the Democratic Party or with Al Gore.

Regardless of his past affiliation with the Democratic Party I understand that there are wackos on both sides of the isle.

Even though I know it is true, I find it very difficult to believe such hatred to gays exists!! The photos showing children manipulated to feel hatred to homos gives me the creeps!
Anyway, not everything goes wrong. Now, here in Argentina the gay marriege has become law!!!
